Expansion is the second official pillar of My Cafe: grow the cafe so more customers can visit. Done right, expansion multiplies every worker and enchant you own. Done early, it creates an unmanageable floor full of leavers. This guide teaches a simple capacity rule you can reuse after every patch from SeydoLiszt.

The capacity rule

Only buy the next expansion when:

1. Current seats fill during normal play, and
2. Your drink (and pastry) clear times stay comfortable, and
3. You are not missing special customers because you are drowning in ordinary orders.

What expansion usually unlocks

While exact buttons change in early development, expansions typically unlock:

• Extra seating / queue space
• Additional service or prep stations
• Room for pastry content after the Customization + Pastries update
• Layout options that pair with customization props

Treat each purchase as a bet that your service rate can absorb more arrivals.

Stepwise growth plan

Stage A — Starter plot mastery

Serve manually until the loop in How to Play feels automatic. Do not expand just because cash is burning a hole in your pocket.

Stage B — First staffed expansion

Hire and upgrade a keeper worker. When they plus you hold a full starter rush, buy the first seating upgrade. Recheck queues for ten minutes.

Stage C — Token-backed growth

Bank Enchant Tokens, empower S-tier staff via the Tier List, then expand again. Enchanted throughput is what makes larger floors profitable.

Stage D — Pastry-aware layout

With pastry stations online, expand in a way that keeps drink and pastry lanes visible. Read Pastries & Customization before filling the room with decor that blocks pathing.

Cash sources for expansion

• Regular customer service
• Verified Codes when available
• Optional 2x Cash gamepass (see Gamepasses)
• Avoid script promises on Scripts — none are verified for this place yet

Never dump 100% of a code reward into expansion if your S-tier worker is still underleveled.

Signs you expanded too early

• Customers despawn angry while stations sit unused
• Special guests leave before you notice them
• You frantically sprint across a huge empty-looking floor
• Workers cannot path cleanly around new props

Recovery: pause expansion, upgrade staff, simplify decor, and re-learn the smaller loop.

Signs you should expand now

• Seats are full while wait times stay short
• Workers idle because nobody can enter
• Cash piles up with no upgrade left on S-tier staff
• Updates added pastry demand you cannot seat

Multiplayer considerations

Servers max out at five players. Other visitors do not replace your need for workers on your cafe progression, but busy servers can feel more chaotic. Focus on your plot’s metrics, not someone else’s neon decor.

After each expansion purchase, stay in-session and track:

• Average wait before a drink is served
• Number of specials you successfully finish
• Whether workers stall behind new props
• Whether pastry tickets (if unlocked) steal your drink focus

If any metric worsens, freeze further expansion for the rest of the day and fix staffing with Hire & Upgrade Workers. Expansion is a multiplier, not a heal spell.

Multi-evening renovation plan

Night 1: one seating tier and stress test. Night 2: worker upgrades only. Night 3: pastry station if queues stayed healthy. Night 4: light customization.
